Hey guys I have a 94 3.0 v6 4Runner with 188,xxx miles there is a noise that just started and is there from start up and doesn't go away or get worse either, it is on the drivers side front of the motor kinda sounds like under the valve cover its like a tapping sounds not a tick but a tap lol really tho, I did some research and found that I might need a new lifter shim? First Toyota so I'm clueless on what problems I will run into and such. Any positive input is welcome thanks guys!!!

Description too vague. Impossible to diagnose from here. Could be a bunch of different things.

BTW, none of which are very likely to be lifter related.

What else would you like to know? Motor runs fine doesn't get worse or better over time, going to do a fresh oil change this weekend so maybe that will help? Idk everything else is fine no check light, no loss in power or anything.

The only things I might want to know are...where you at...and do you want me to come take a look at it for you? NW Oregon or SW Washington? I'm not even going to try fixing it from here. But I might be willing to take a short drive.
