I made a custom exhaust for my 3.0 I went down the passenger side went all the way back and went behind the t-case under the drive shaft right the the flange. And went back and h piped it and ran duals the rest of the way back. Right now currently the exhaust is out of my truck but it is all still together I can take a pick and post it if you want

Red face

Not so much with the 3.0 but with the 3.4

Some make a y pipe that goes down below the engine.

Just what is your reason for doing this??

Well it has no cats on it and sense my truck is a 91 I don't have to pass emissions on it and the inspection guy doesn't care

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but from my experience with smogging a 3.4 swap, you will never pass the visual inspection with a modified crossover. You can modify the crossover (or at least you can for an engine change) but you must use all the factory flanges and they must be in the same relative place as from factory (pipe lengths must be approximately the same length).

Now, if you find some SMOG legal 3.0 headers (with a valid E.O number sticker) then you should be able to eliminate that crossover, but I'm not familiar with what would be involved with that.

As far as SMOG is concerned, you can do anything you want after the last cat or O2 sensor (whichever is furthest back), but if you modify anything between the motor and that, you'll be in for an extra special inspection.

My truck only has one o2 sensor and it's right before the cat so I took it off and have no issues with the truck or inspection

Matt- Sorry to change the topic for just a sec but where did you buy the motor? I am debating on replacement but I can't find good reviews on anyone. Can you let me know? Thanks!

I bought the motor from a company in Modesto CA call 209toyota 1
They did everything for me installed the timing belt lower intake oil Pan and valve covers
They also installed all the exhaust manifold bolts along with a new nock sensor and harness
The motor was 2,000 and with all the extras it came to 2,650.00
I found an muffler shop that did my exhaust , it came out tits...

I am new to this forum, I just picked up a 94 4x4 truck extended cab from a friend with the 3.0 5 speed. The head gasket was replaced on the recall at 90k miles and it now has 116k. Anybody have any HG problems after the recall? I want to do something about the crossover pipe too, but the post from Sac Runner it appears I can't do anything about it because of smog requirements in Calif. Thanks

Okay so this is what I did, installed re manufactured motor keep the exhaust manifolds
First you need to buy the blank cover for the drivers side and the open cover for the passenger side, bought them fro 209toyota1 in Modesto ca 209-869-6821 then I took my truck over to Marco muffler in orangevale, now people say you can't smog well if there not looking it will pass just play stupid , they did a great job just paint with high heat paint so it looks old .

Thanks I will keep that in mind, I only live 60 miles from Modesto so may decide to go ahead and do it.
