Thats the EGR temp sensor. As far as I know not many trucks, aside from cali trucks got that part. Mine doesnt have it...

you might have gotten a replacment from another model truck... If its unhooked and your truck came with it, you should be getting EGR code #71 ...if not, dont worry about it...

i blocked it off with a bolt but i see that i have the plug that is connected to the wiring harness but not the connector attached to the egr. i could be getting that code but im not even sure that my check engine light bulb works, have to check it out. you think it will cause worse gas mileage with that thing disconnected?

If you dont have the connector in the EGR and you are not getting a code, there is no problem...

Turn the key to on, the CEL light should be on. If not, its out....

mileage shouldnt be affected, but like I said. Not many trucks up here had that sensor from the factory. Its not needed.

Check for vac leaks
check for air leaks in the intake (between AFM and the TB)
do a full tune up (ngk or denso stuff!)

I get around 15-16 mpg mixed driving in the winter. Summer I get up to 21mpg.....

ill go and have a look at the vac lines, im about to do the isr mod today using the stock hose off the tb and using a 45 degree belled end pvc pipe. i just changed the plugs and air filter. driving almost 90 percent in city doesn't help either.

Yup, that is for cali trucks only. If you remove the EGR that is where the resistor goes for the CEL.
