Melted distributor cap and rotor
I've got a 90 3.0 and three times now I have had my distributor cap and rotor melt on me. I know the compression is bad on the #5 cylinder, and I am idling very rough, either heads or valves, no smoke in exhaust though, and no burning oil. Anyone ever hear of or see something like that?
Thanks |

Bad compression should have no effect on your cap/rotor. If you're running really rich, your exhaust manifold might be getting too hot. would explain your rough running too.
Definitely a heat issue. Get your motor sorted and go from there. Short term fix would be to fab a heat shield to protect your distributor. |
