hehe, just wait till youre on a tight trail and have the wheel cranked hard and hear that noise. youll know it when you hear it, that will be your cv letting go. been there, done that, got the hat and shirt.

fix it asap, i let mine go and ended up having to do the whole spindle when the bearings siezed on the highway at speed. NOT a nice thing.

do I put the aisin hubs in free or lock?
Also got hubs from Wabfab and it looks perfect and fast shipping!!!

my bet is that I should put it in lock and after bolting up I should put it in free to free the hubs

but I thought I saw on one page that I should leave my hubs to free when installing

infiltrator

you only put the hubs on the front because the rear wheels are always locked because you need your 4runner moving

check out wabfabs site... search in google.. or get a set from a junkyard and rebuild yourself

Install on "free" and then test them to make sure they engage properly at "lock".

Have you had them apart lately? Many times the big spring gets installed upside down and then does not work properly or folks put TOO much grease in there and it creates a suction and the hub doesn't work right.

Our Aisin manual hubs' page:

If you stand that big spring on a flat surface one end will sit flat and one in will sit off camber. Put the flat end on the pawl and the off camber end goes up next to the actual hub dial face when you screw it on.

I get quite a few manual hubs and you wouldn't believe how many I've seen installed upside down.

now I have a new problem,
I just put in those manual hubs and now when I put it to FREE theres a loud grinding or weird noise coming from my left wheel area.
I did the hub test (spin wheel and such) but it didn't make any noise while jacked up. But when I go to the street and drive it the sound appears, but when I put it to lock there are no noise.
Anyone know whats wrong?

you know the black cone washers that came with the add hubs? the ones where it is underneath the hub body bolts.
Do I still use that when I install my manual hubs, because when I took out the add and put on the manual I still use that black cone washers.
I just read somewhere that the manual hubs weren't needed to pound a hammer for take it out, but I tried taking it out and it was an a** to pull out because that washer was inside to deep.
It might explain a lot of issues for me.

Aisin manual hubs require the OEM split dowels or cone washers to mount properly.

There are numerous write ups on how to install Aisin manual hubs online for ADD and auto conversions.
