"Make sure you use High-Tac on that HG..."??

Took my heads in to be serviced and the fellow there who says he's done tons of 3VZE rebuilds said to be sure I use some spray on High-Tac on the gaskets before I install them (basically like a glue). He says all the guys at the dealerships do this when installing HG on 3VZE's

Can anyone confirm this suggestion? I figure it couldn't hurt, but no mention of it in the FSM/
Thanks
Steve

You will find that some people on here do use an adhesive on the block before laying on the headgasket (I have heard of the copper spray more than High-Tac) and some don't use it. It's alot like the debate with using FIPG on the paper gaskets or not using the FIPG. People have had success each way.

Permatex 300 on PAPER gaskets - yes
FIPG on paper gaskets - never heard that one

Copper spray (Hy Tac?) on head gaskets - I've heard this before. I dont tho...

On some engines there is a need to "locate" the gasket to keep it from moving around as the head is laid down / torque down.

IMHO if the block has locating dowels for the head I would follow the gasket manufs reccomnedations...

If you do decide to do it, ONLY put it on the block side. The head side needs to slip a little with differing aluminum/iron expansion/cooling rates.
