Do you torque them? I can't say I do, its too much hassle. I do feel I can approximate the heavy side of 80ft-lbs. Curious what you guys do.


Strangely enough, Discount Tire's website shows 170ft-lbs for the 2wd Toyota truck DRW (<-- ??... as opposed to SRW???). That seems like a lot. The Porsche Carrera GT is whopping 407ft-lbs compared to Ferrari's pathetic sub-100s... and were still talking lug nut torque!

manual for my 3rd gen says 83. i go with 85 cuz its nice and round. not to tight thought, the studs dont like that much torque.

i torque every wheel i take off believe it or not but uneven torque can cause warped rotors not to mention its a nice safe feeling knowing they r torqued

I torque mine with the SR5 4 twin spoke rims to 100 ft lbs. Its a good idea to torque, because if you dont and your unlucky your lugs will loosen! It happened to me, but i discovered it before my wheel fell off thankfully. I used an impact gun that time, now I only use a torque wrench

Coming from the import scene ive found that with ANY aluminum rim, only torque to 75ft. lbs. so thats what i follow with my stock SR5 Alloys...

my steel wheels i wail on at 90ft. lbs...

and for the record, i ALWAYS torque my rims... just a good habbit to get into...

Last time I looked it up on Alldatapro.com the lug nut torque spec was 75 ft. lbs. for my 4runner. I torque them with the 80 ft. lb torque stick. I've rechecked them with a torque wrench and one of the sticks is pretty accurate. It really depends on how much time I have to put the wheels back on though.

wth 170ft lbs for a 2wd toyota thats cant be right unless maybe the 1 ton dully model. and 407ft lbs for a Porsche that cant be right.

I think its probably the dually, but I don't know. Its consistent with the motor home numbers and many (most?) one tonne duallies were used as motor homes.

The Porsche GT isn't your average tiptronic-posermobile driven by a business-boy in Gucci sunglasses.

Oh its correct. Its because the Carerra GT doesn't have a lug pattern, it has a large single hub that screws on like an F1 car. The car comes with a special little gearbox wrench that attaches to the wheel and multiplies your torque, so you can put out enough torque to attach the wheel properly.

knock offs-wheels with one lugnut more popular with the dayton spoke rims had a set on the beemer for a while they call em knock offs because they come with a three spoke key that u smack with a hammer to tighten or loosen but they look cool none the less
