Loud squeal when accelerating
Hey guys,
So I have an 89' pickup with the 3.0 V6. Its all stock.
Starting last fall I have been getting this high pitched
intermittent squealing sound from what I think is the drive
train area. It definitely sounds like its coming more from
the rear of the truck than the front. It happens at 2K rps and
greater in 3rd gear and up. It only happens when I hit the accelerator.
If I let off the gas, the sound stops.
Last fall when it first started happening I took a grease gun
to the zirks and hit as many as I could find.
The sound went away after that for about a week then came back.
It is definitely worse in the mornings when everything is cold.
If I'm not laying on the gas and just cruising at like 45-50 mph
the sound sorta just comes in and out, like every second or so,
but as soon as hit the gas its constant.
I'm thinking its U-joint related or something with the drivetrain
since it went away when I greased the zirks. I know its not the brakes
cause they also make a squeal when I'm stopping and the sound is much
different.
I'm not sure where to start with this. Any ideas would be awesome!
Thanks
