Loud Engine Noise
Hey guys.
My trucks been making a loud noise lately. Sounds somewhat like an older muscle car, or as if I just took off the muffler. There was no gradual change to getting louder.. one day I just turned it on and it was pretty obvious. This noise is loudest inside the cab, barley noticeable near the end of the exhaust pipe. I thought maybe there was a hole somewhere along the pipe but I didn't find anything. It sounds like its coming from somewhere inside the engine. It isn't leaking any fluids and the temperature gauge is where it should be.
Anyone got an idea of what could be going on?
Thanks in advance for any input.

Which engine, dewd?
But uhh...if its a 22re, The gaskets between the exhaust manifold and down pipe LOVE to burn up It makes the truck sound sweet if they are burnt up in the right way and the bolts are tightened just right
But ya..check exhaust gaskets....
Try to explain the sound a little more perhaps?....Is it a knocking sound? a rattling (like 874runner said) aaaa pinging?.....etc?...

Take a long piece of rubber hose, place one end in one ear and move the other end around each of the exhaust ports (be sure to check top and bottom), the upper manifold / down pipe union, and on down the exhaust until you find the source of the noise.

Its a 6cyl 3VZE
The sound is more of a deeper vrooom vrrrooom sound. Ha. Doesn't really make a knocking or pinging sound. Just a louder deeper sound. It sounds awesome... but I can imagine it's not good.
I forgot to mention that it kind of smells like somethings burning under the hood as well. So burnt up exhaust gaskets could be the reason. I'll have to see.
