Looking for ideas: Custom Door panels DIY
So as the title states, I'm looking for ideas/pictures of custom or home made interior door panels. I've searched through the forums and found a rag tag bunch of pictures of what people have in their Yota's currently, but these have mainly been just lucky shots as people are showing off their bucket seat installs.
What I would like is specific pics or even better yet ideas on how to make door panels for my '91 Yota. Searching the internet I have come up pretty short except for one old link on building fiberglass door panels. I am thinking more along the lines of 1/8" masonite board wrapped in speaker carpet with some foam underlying to add texture and design.
Any ideas? Pics? Write-ups I missed?
Thanks

check the hot-rod forums, lots of those will give links to how-to's. I plan on doing the same with my interior.
my plan:
use plain flat door panel(manual window crank) template since it is totally flat. cover with marine vinyl. I think i am going to diamond pleating(seems easy http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=366975)
reuse stock door pulls/handles
use stainless(or brass) commercial door kick plate at bottom of door to add protection and texture) you can do alot with a rivet gun and some flat (non corrosive) metal.
The plain massonite door panels would be ideal for me. i am going to try to give the interior a rugged 'old school/steam-punk' look. I also have an idea to use maglites (flashlight) for the arm rests that light when you open the door...for safety of course.
But i have may other issues to sort out first.
hope this helps, and take some pics
