Anybody make a locking tailgate latch that'll work on a 89?

There is a kit you can get to make a 95.5 and up lock... the latch is similar to the 89-95 but not exactly the same... I have an email into the co. that makes it but have'nt heard back yet. I will post a link to them here when I get the address again... maybe if more of us ask they will fab one for us too...

I'd be interested in something that would fit my '93 with little to no modification. That being said... price wouldn't matter too much unless it's obscenely over priced.

it prob wouldnt be too hard to make one..i bet i could make one with a door lock cylinder and some jb weld.. ima go finda a newer truck that has one for ideas. that way you can just use the key you already have.

Looks like this thread died... Did anyone figure this out?

It seems like adding a handle that when locked would prevent the pins from being pulled is all that would be needed. I would like to convert my '92's tailgate to a locking.

If you're doing this because you have a locking camper shell or tonneau cover, but are concerned someone can just open the tailgate to bypass the cover's lock -- all you need to do is anchor a sliding bolt latch on the inside of both sides of the tailgate and drill a corresponding hole in the side of the bed for the bolt to slide into. Now nobody can open your tailgate without having first opened the cover to unfasten the bolt latches; problem solved for $4 and 30 minutes of your time. If you're looking to lock your tailgate without having a cover on the bed then I have no answer since your junk is already accessible.

They never responded to my email, but I will try to get another way to get in touch with them...
