Locker doesn't fit?
I recently received a spartan locker in the mail and went to install it with a friends help today. When we went to put the side gears in the carrier, they didn't fit. we measured the old and new and the locker's sidegears are 200th bigger, this is also the case with the center pin. Did I get the wrong locker? the box is labeled as a 4cyl toyota 8inch. (which my truck is) Was there a mixup at the factory ? Is there something we are missing? Any help is appreciated

The cases are cast iron, any surface on them that is not machined is not at all a precise, sometimes the side opening where you access the spider gears is a hair too small to get the new locker in, due to casting imperfections. Just grind it down a hair and be done with it. It will not reduce the strength of the case unless you're removing a LOT more than 1/200" of material. I've had to file out a bit of material on both diffs I've installed lockers in.
INFINITY: Actually, I found grinding down the case a touch took about 5 minutes with a metal file or 30 seconds with a Dremel. Not a big deal at all.

I think you guys have the wrong idea of my problem.. I have a 2 piece carrier. 4 spiders 2 side gears, the side gears of the locker don't fit in the bore of the case, where the factory side gears go.

V6, Turbo or 4:88's and yes, two of those are used with "4cylinder's"

That's why I try Toyota...
Way too many weak links in a Chrysler...
Jeep guys and Toyota guys live for this rivalry, but TBT Dana's can't handle a "Ford 8""
