After being out of the 4Runner game for a few years, I picked up a '90 SR5 this morning. Got a wild hair to swap all the bulbs except the headlights for LEDs. Is there a comprehensive list of what bulbs go where that I can use while shopping for the replacements? I did a few quick searches on my phone, but didn't see anything.

Everything but the headlights, interior and exterior. Just think it would be a fun, cool looking, relatively easy and cheap mod.

Where are you guys planning on sourcing lights? Have you heard of fasttech.com prices are much cheaper than other sources I've seen.A guy at work told me about them, he has ordered a mod for his e-cigarette from them and was very pleased.

I plan on swapping out bulbs also. Found a bulb for dome light at walmart $6 bucks kinda let down. The 2 little LEDs that make up the bulb just don't seem to put out much light. That site has a couple other options that fit into internal light fixtures I might try later after holidays.

I was looking at superbrightleds.com, but haven't started seriously shopping as I'm not sure what exactly I need.

superbrightleds has a search tool that tells you what size bulbs to get for exterior brake, turn, licinse and back up lights. Get the bulb color that corresponds with the lens color: red for brake etc. (Duh, I guess) I spent last night searching threads and can't figure out exactly how many of which bulbs to order for the SR5 dash. I want to do clear in my 89. I got a bunch of 6 or 8 LED torpedo bulbs off eBay for about $6 and changed them in the '89 and the 2000 4Runners. The same size fit all the interior ceiling lights but don't fit the 2000 map lights. I think the dash needs 194 and 74 bulbs but I'm not sure how many. Can anyone comment on how many to get? Manual, 22RE,SR5 swap.

Would like to know as well. Just picked up a 91 SR5 3.0 and it has a few lights out... Would like to convert over to some nice LED's.

Superbrightleds has good info on the exterior stuff, interior not so much. Also, is a resistor needed for the blinkers?

I repalced the Taillights with

They work very well reverse lites are nice and bright and they look good too...

I wanted Daytime Running Lights so I replaced the 2 wire Bumper Lights with

That pretty much covers it except I havent done the side lights but they are T-10s

You can get around using Resisters by getting a electronic blinker relay for LEDs.. just make sure if you do not have all LEDs that the relay you get can handle both types of bulbs..

Otherwise ya gotta use the resistors which get very hot so mount them to metal.

You can also modify the stock blinker relay by thinning out the metal thing inside it with a dremmel to raise the resistance if you are super cheap and have a dremmel..

If you dont do any of these things the stock blinker relay will read the lower voltage draw from the LEDs as a burnt out bulb and you will have hyperflash and if you use switchbacks they wont work properly..

I ordered a flasher module to combat the low resistance of the LEDs. Guy said it worked for his '94 Yota pickup, so hopefully it'll be good on my '90 4Runner.

Dumb question, but where is it, in the fuse box? I haven't got out and looked yet.

Yeah, My instrument cluster lights (late 89 DLX 4x4) there is 2 possible types of bulbs used and the only way to find out for sure which i have is to scatter the dash out and look...

also maybe try pfanleds -- pfran was/is a forum member at ih8mud who started doing group buys on LEDs direct sourced from China. Now he's got a business and does other vehicles than landcruisers now. I've got some from him for my cruiser and damn they're almost too bright.
