Limited Slip Question
Hey guys I dont wheel a lot so dont make fun of me just had a diff question. WHen i bought my runner about 10 months ago the PO said it had a Detroit trutrac diff. I figured it was similar to a limited slip.. Sure enough both rear tires spin the same direction when i have the rear jacked up...but i can grab one tire (and stop it from moving) while spinning the other tire.. to me this means its not limited slip or perhaps the clutches are worn out?? if i burn out in gravel it leaves 2 tire tracks..
So am i just wrong in what a detroit trutrack is? or are my clutches worn out??
thanks guys

Sounds like a normal TrueTrac (a torque sensing limited slip diff):

And you can lock them up with the brake biasing technique.

jack it up and pull the E brake while the tires are spinning to load it down.... then try stopping a tire while it spins . I use the E brake trick all the time on my TruTrac in fact its never let me down so I don't see any need to replace it with a full Detroit..
