the lift...
hi guys. i got most of my underhood problems solved and now im looking at getting a lift/bigger tires. rite now i think i have a 2" body lift, and i have 33x12.50 tires. i have no clue what gears i have (93 ex. cab 4x4 pickup). what is the biggest tire i can fit without rubbing? and what gears would i need to get? i heard that with some major pounding and cutting i could fit up to 35x12.5-37x12.5 with minimal rubbing? is that possible, and if so, where/how much would i need to cut? and what gears should i look into? thanks guys (i would have put this in the "what size tire" thread but i thought guys with a 93 would be better suited to tell me?)

Thou shalt read this newbie:
Newbie Links and FAQ's
There's no way you'll fit 35's or especially 37's without serious cutting. You can fit 33's pretty easily without too much grinding/pounding though.

You prolly have 4.10 gears from factory. If youre gonna be running 35-37s with a 22re, youre gonna want either 4.88s or 5.29s. 5.29s will put you closer to 4.10s with 225/75s, but 4.88s won't be that bad and are a heck of a lot cheaper since they came from the factory with some trucks and runners.

Partner there is a lot of information on lifts and gearing. I hate to make you search for it but that's the best way to pick up the information you need.
33's need 4.88's and 35's need 5.29's.

ive got 35"s and could fit 37"s easily..but i have a 4" bracket lift, and a 3" body lift, so with a little bit more lift and some cutting/ trimming you could fit 35's...ive heard of people running 37"s stock but thats with serious cutting...like allmost no finders, and if you want a good lift for your IFS that will give you some actual suspension action IE more travel search blazeland, has like 500 posts of us asking the guy questions about it.. and his site is blazeland.us

In my opinion with ifs keep your cost low, unless you like to run in the dessert at high speeds.
Raise your transmission 2 inch using a budbuilt cross member $199. Just make sure you tell them you want to raise the transmission 2 inches. This will increase the ground clearance under your truck by about 4 inches and keep your center of gravity low. http://www.budbuilt.com/new/single_cross_members.html
Get a locker for the rear, this will greatly increase traction. Aussie makes a cheap locker, but the road manners are not the best.
Keep the 33s they are free. 35s can be a little hard on the ifs and will only give you 1 inch of lift.
If it still won't go where you want sas the truck, gear it, lock it and put on some big tires.
