I think the digi-dash is cool.
And the trucks in back to the future weren't turbo LOL, you'd have heard it, and it did a reverse burnout... lol... and teh tach said he was revving 55-6500 RPM... lol must have adjusted it differently... if u rev up to redline and drop the clutch it's gonna do a burnout... lol...

I get axle hop when burning out in forward or reverse, but I imagine it's easier for him since its a truck (light in back).

My first toyota 4x4 was a 1987 pickup with a turbo and a 5 speed. That truck would stomp my friends 22re. Ain't got no pics though.

I wish you could get a Turbo Diesel motor here in the US for the 4runner. I would consider making mine a Turbo Bio-diesel 4runner.

I've looked into it, but It seems that the motor is highly sought after and getting it here in the US is tough.

From the factory, I think it's 10-20hp in toyota literature.. I've never seen a dyno of a stock one, so I can't tell you difference in area under the curve either.

The interesting thing is that like most mid-80s turbos, they're overbuilt and underrated. With ECU control and a simple turbo upgrade, they're capable for ~200hp in stock form.

old pic of the desert truck we were working on when in was in school

i have a 1st gen that i plan on boosting...probably going to run a twin scroll GT30R and mess around with megasquirt.

rerouted the radiator line and welded a #10AN fitting onto the coolant line for additional clearance around the manifold/turbo/downpipe

built a 3.0 in. exhaust for the truck too, vband connections for quick disconnects/test pipes/open dp etc

1987 22RET kinda modified.

This is it, no front drive shaft, no 4x4.

This with 4x4 no bed.

This is my second trip to Carnage after most everything is done.

Now i really miss my old '87 Turbo pickup 4wd. That thing had the best driver's seat ever! Adjusted in every direction...even the headrest had 3 settings! Mine was the unfortunate victim of a parkinglot disaster where my neighbor who was parked next to me decided to reverse out of her space by going FORWARD, slamming into my truck, jumping up the sidewalk and being stopped by the apartment in front of us, all while literally taking off my front end and totaling the truck. Don't ask me how she did it, especially with no momentum. It boggles me to this day. Her little Escort was smashed in from the headlight all the way to the rear tire. I guess I lucked out when the insurance bought it off me for $6500 when I bought it for $2500. That truck had some gitup...in college it got me and 3 homies back to UC Davis from San Fran in 45min after a Gov't Mule concert. Well that's my rant for the day. Best of luck for you lucky guys with 22ret's.
