So I have a 94' 2wd truck which I blew the motor in and pulled a motor out of a 88' truck and it only had 80k something miles on it. Well it seems that I seem to every few weeks I have to put coolant in it because It seems to disipear. There are no leaks from anywhere on the outside of the motor and one my buddies told me that it is prob leaking into the cylinders and burning it. I'm prob going to replace the head gasket this week maybe but my question is that it leaking into the cylinders shouldn't hurt it right? What else could be making it leak besides the head gasket? Thanks

No it wont hurt the motor to leak coolant a little into the cylinders. It will actually clean the top of the pistons real shiny
I cant think of any other way you'd be loosing coolant. Check for brown stuff stuck up on the bottom of the oil cap. Check the color of your oil that should give you a few leads on your problem

go to auto zone and rent the coolant pressure tester it will run you around 75$ but you get it back when you return it also make sure they have the adapter for the toyotas.

my buddy pulled out his heater core thinking it was leaking it was fine we went and rented the pressure tester the leak was at the thermostat elbow the hose was old and had a bunch of gunk on it that was allowing the coolant to boil out also make sure you thermostat on the radiator is good if the seal or the 13 psi spring is bad it can allow steam out, and your system can boil out with out a noticeable leak.

Well we tore it down and come to find out it was blown

Well I had the head shaved and I think it was warped a little but idk how much he shaved it but does anyone know how much is too much to shave off a stock head on a stock motor?
