Leaking Caliper(not from pistons)
I have a 1988 4Runner 4WD(which for some odd reason has 87 brakes on it). Anyway, one of my calipers is leaking. They seam to be two piece calipers. It is leaking from the mating surfaces of these two pieces near the bottom bolt(of the four it seams are holding the two pieces together). It is not leaking from any piston.
Is it possible to crack this caliper apart and reseal this(o ring?), or should I get a new caliper?
Do new/reman calipers come as a whole or in two pieces?
I already checked the FSM and Chilton, but neither show caliper apart. Any other ideas?

They are all 2 peice 2 or 4 piston calipers. There should be some small o rings in there but I'm not sure where you can get them.
You can probably pick up a single reman "unloaded" caliper for cheap. Unloaded means no pads included.
This leak is not very common.

The calipers are two piece. have square o rings in between. The caliper rebuild kits do not have these in them. Luckily I found the o rings in the drain bucket. crisis averted!

Depends on the rebuild kit I guess. Just used some parts Saturday and it has new caliper side o-rings. One I got has enough stuff in it to rebuild bunches of calipers and includes all replaceable seals, o-rings, clips etc. It was a complete kit except for pistons, castings and brake pads.
