KYB's any good?

Anyone here actually have KYB's on their trucks? How well do they work? Do they make them in lifted sizes? How much are they?

I have some on my wife's stationwagon and they are a good thing. TNRabbit has them on his truck, though.....or he did..and loves them. Yeah, they're a good shock.

I have the KYB MonoMax shocks on my 4Runner, I'll give them the big . KYB says that they do have them for lifted applications too. Following advice from good 'ol Yotatech I'm running them nekid (no Boots) and after about 10k mi. they still look great.

Why did you run them w/out boots? I just copped a pair of Monomax on ebay and got them yesterday. Planning to install them today.

the boots tend to trap water, mud, sand and salt(in the winter) I dont have to tell you ,that causes the shock to rust. First thing i do is take the boots off my shocks.

Ditto on that. Been driving without for almost 20 years. Never had an issue on any 4x4.

I have a set of them on my truck and really like them, I think they're a little stiff for everyday use sometimes, but they work real well at high speeds on dirt roads or on the beach. I put them on about 10 years ago? after trying lots of spring/shock combinations, and haven't changed anything since. My truck is completely outdated and shock technology has changed a lot, it still works well.

Thanks for the quick response guys. When I got to install them today, you guys had already replied so I took the boots off. Much to the disagreement of my cousin who works at Advance. He says the boots keeps dirt, sand & water out, but I trust you guys so I pulled them off. Everything went great. Not to hijack this thread, so once I get some miles on the Monomax, I will give my $.02 as well. Oh, and I paid $56 for the pair of rear shocks. $70 w/s&h on Ebay.
