Knock sensor nightmare
I had a jerk rebuild my 3.0 and left me with a knock sensor engine code. He refuses to make good. Long story short, another shop pulled the plenum to get to it and claimed they couldn't get power to it, from it? Isn't it one wire? I'm still trying to figure out what they are talking about.
They had me tow it to an electrical shop. He says it could be the sensor or the ECU. Since he doesn't see many Toyota ECU's go bad, he figure's it's the sensor. He said the wires are good. I've read the threads on placing a new sensor in an alternate place to avoid removing so much stuff to get to the old one.
A new sensor is about another $200 and I can't sink more money into this thing right now. Is there a resistor or something you can place there instead of the sensor to trick the computer for now to stop the light and the timing retardation?

I have my old knock sensor so if you need it PM me. I also have the code and it happen to be the wire, the wire plug was loose off from the knock sensor. It still look fine. If you happen to have a second knock sensor I don't know if you can connect it through the wire harness and will cure it, but I have seen other screw the sensor through the engine thread, and work fine.

Timing belt tensioner has to come off aswell.

Ignore the part numbers, there are different ones for different year model motors.
$240 australian for a new one and $16 for the wire.
