JET ECU upgrade

I've read through some posts on this. Some say it gives minimal gains for the $$$ involved, but no one has really said if they've done it or if they've noticed a vast improvement as a result of it. I'm thinking about going to the pick n pull to grab an ECU to ship off so I still have mine to drive around with. Then I'll let everyone know if there's a noticeable difference or not... unless someone has any input as to why I shouldn't...

Don't waste your money. Put in a decent cam, a nice header, and adjust your AFM and set the timing.

If you don't wanna dump into the money pit of a 3.slow engine swap if your looking into getting horse power and a reasonable mpgs

Well, to be honest, the ride from South Boston, VA to VA Beach is about 150 miles, mostly highway, and it takes only a little bit more than half a tank of gas. So almost 300 miles to the tank on the highway which isn't bad considering the 3.0s reputation. All I have done is performance intake (not cold air) and performance exhaust with hi-flow cat and muffler. Power feels good, but have to give it a little more on hills. Before I do the ECU upgrade, I'll do the other things I've been talking about like 7MGE AFM swap and egr and crossover delete. VA doesn't do a Sniffer test, they just make sure you have a cat and that there's no holes in the exhaust.
The reason I say "things I've been talking about" is because I'm on the road in KY right now and the truck is in South Boston, lol. I'm going to get her next weekend. My poor baby has been neglected.

Oh, BTW anyone having trouble finding a 7MGE AFM at a junkyard/pick n pull, here's the least expensive solution that I've found: http://m.oreillyauto.com/mt/www.orei...2204&ppt=C0033
$169.00 + $10.00 core charge. If anyone can find a better deal, let me know. EBay falls short sometimes and doesn't always have what you need when you need it, lol.

I had a 3.0
bored .20
balanced
ported-polished heads
k/n air charger
headers
and sent the ECU in to have it tweaked.

All of it ran good for 10 years or so then, I had to get it through DEQ in Portland and had to buy a stock ECU from a junk yard to swap to make it through DEQ.

Well it took awhile before I could say "this isn't the motor I had with the jetted ECU" I don't know if I get more horse power with it but the throttle and "QUICK REV-RPMS" is quite different without it. With it it's a joy to run. sluggish like a the stock motor without it.

I don't know much about motors and tuning but without tuning and the jetted ECU things were great for a long time. I just got it through DEQ awhile ago and just have to put the jet ECU back in my ride SOON, LIKE THIS WEEKEND!

They needed to know the upgrades to tune it just right for the motor, worked for me! $400 10 years ago. Was it worth it? 125,000 without a tune up - ran great and then I blew a head gasket , fixed the head gasket and put another 100,000 on it without a tune up and was fine til I put the stock one in. I'm putting the jet back in and keeping it that way til the o'l DEQ pass again when I will swap the stock one back for just one day next time!

stock junk yard ECU 110$
