Its time for a paint job input needed
Well its come time for a paint job and im really not sure what i want to do. I was kinda think i would do the interlux brightside boat paint but the dont have a color that i really like except maybe the sea green but im worried that it would be to light of a green for me.
I have been watching the MTV show Rob and Big and im really starting to like the look of Robs tahoe with the flat black paint job. im not sure that would look good though.
So I guess Im looking for suggestions for a paint job that isnt to overly expensive. maybe if i get enough suggestions we could put it to a vote or somthing like that.
well here she is UGLY

Flat black works, the brightside paint works too if you can get actual coloar swatches from a marine supply and look at them. Most marine paints will work too..
If your gonna go the rattle can route, i suggest you use laquer based paints as they hold up way better.

I just painted some side covers for my motorcycle with this Duplicolor Truck/SUV paint I got at Kragen. I picked up the paint stripper, primer, paint, and their clearcoat figuring what the heck.
Well I'll have to take some pics tomorrow but it turned out really nice. I was surprised. I used a metallic black and it looks great. You'll need a few cans but you might give it a try. It actually produces a hard coat of paint with some nice shine.

give it an early toyota/Ivan paint job like #8 (or 9 but with red, not blue), you could also do the white part in black instead

Yep. I followed the instructions. I thought the paint looked rather good for rattle can but that clear coat deepened it.
For budget paint it's not bad.
I did a few things. One I wiped the nozzle off often. If was to paint something large like a truck I would start from the roof and work my way down or start from one end and work my way back. Rattle cans tend to have a lot of over spray which seems to dull the finish so if you can follow your over spray it helps.

I used rustoleum spray paint on mine. Painted it with the camo series tan.
Sand/ rough it up.
Wipe with acetone/ mineral spirits.
Paint
Wait
Paint
3 coats of paint
5-6 of clear coat rustoleum sprayed from 12-16 inches away.
Its been on here for a year and looks good as new. Doesn't chip or rub off. Never been waxed either!
Old poser picture, but it shows the paint.
bottom is hurculined underneath and painted over.
And this one from last week:

trinity1945. com has some great deals on enamel paint kits in alot of different colors. I figure I could paint my whole truck for less than $120. Plus, it is a great learning experience to do it yourself. I have found that when I used spray paint to touch up areas on my black truck, it looks ok for a while, but the sun kills it and you end up spraying again and again to keep it. Also, $120 do it yourself means if you mess up, you can just learn fromit and try again. They also have decent prep and spray instructions. That Duplicolr system is neat for do it yourself, but it costs more.
