Intake Manifold Replace or Weld? Please take a minute to read
I am stranded in Denver with my mini motor home that is on an 86 toyota pickup chassy. It has a 22re. When trying to replace my ECT sensor that corresponds to the dash gauge, I tightened too much and sheered off the piece of the intake manifold that the sensor threads into. It is the one wire sensor to the back of the manifold, not to be confused with the Temp sensor that is part of the pair or sensors to the front. I talked to the local toyota shop, which wont work on it because it is technically not a toyota, and they said I need to replace the entire intake manifold or possibly get it welded back on. This is way out of my league, I cant even properly replace an easy temp sensor, I am needing help getting back on the road and continue west. Looking for any advice and info, for example how many labor hours it should take to replace the intake manifold, if it could just be welded, etc. Also if there are any good connections here in Denver please let me know. Thanks for your time.

go to a junk yard and find an old one. a 22r/e is a 22r/e, wherever you go. clean it up with some brake cleaner and bolt it on. they should be fairly cheap, too.
also, note that there is a difference between early and late 22r-e upper intake plenums: early ones tilt downward at the front, while later ones come out straight.

There is a place in Denver called Jim's got parts, they are a toyota wrecking yard with every imaginable part toyota made for this generation of Toyota.

They will have a new intake manifold for you. They may be able to help you install it as well.
Edit: ^^^^beat me too it by a nose hair.

I think you're on the right track. You just need the lower part (the plenum) not the air chamber (EFI stamped part).
TAKE YOUR TIME, LABEL, LABEL, TAKE NOTES, TAKE PICS, LABEL SOME MORE. Especially all those vacuum hoses.
Here's a link to a 22RE factory service manual covering removing the whole head (just skip around and follow all the directions pertaining to intake manifold). Enough elbow grease and you could probably get this done in a parking lot. Should only need the intake manifold gasket and the plenum/air chamber gasket, maybe a tube of RTV silicon. (You're going to need more gaskets then that now that i think about it.) There's other coolant pipes that attach to the plenum on the underside. I hope you got a lot of metric tools and extensions. You can rent a lot of stuff from an auto parts store too (torque wrench).
Cylinder Head
Entire Manual
Oof, I keep thinking about this and realizing you got a major PITA on your hands. Keep checking and maybe some Denver-ite Yotatecher will pop up and offer a hand...
You gotta get down to this stage:
