Installing a factory Roof Rack?
So I have a 95 4runner. Its the cheap 22re one with no options other than air. I want to put the factory roof rack channels (or whatever you would call them) on it so I can run a nice basket up there. But I am not sure if this is even possible. Is there internal bracing, or is it just drill a couple holes and throw in some screws or something like that? I don't want to waste an afternoon at the u-pullit yard just to find that it won't work with out a bunch of welding or something. Any help would be much appreciated.

not trying to be one of those jerks that just says "search" all the time, but that might yield some good results. I get it all the time

You can install just about anything up there. If you aren't dead set on the factory rack you could look on Craigslist for something a little better. I ended up installed a 48"x60" rack on mine (1st gen though so I was drilling fiberglass) using riv-nuts and some RTV to seal it. No leaks and there is a lot of room up there for cargo.

ok, so now my thoughts have moved to running a pair of 60" yakima tracks on the roof and building a 4'x6' basket to haul crap with. But the only issue with this is that somewhere around the middle of the rear doors, the roof starts to curve down oh so slightly to the windshield. Now I can do a couple things. Just put the shorter rails on the back and not make as big of a basket. I could run mounts in the shorter rear rails, and make a mount to fix to the existing yakima rack (clamps down inside the door frames). Or I try to push it and just bolt the 60" rails down and say F it. Has anyone tried running longer rails and run into the curve that i speak of? Will it FUBAR my roof? And really how much weight realistically could I put up there factory rails or otherwise? I thought I saw a post somewhere were a guy put a set of 54" yak tracks on his runner, but not sure if it was a 2nd gen or 1st gen as I can't seem to find it anymore. I am not 100% set on having 6ft of basket, but I would really really like to have as much room up top as I can. Camping would be worlds easier with more room up there.
