Installing engine tomorrow, need help

Downey doesnt have enough orders to warrant an order with their supplier so I am going to install the motor with the stock manifolds and switch them over later. I am going to install the motor tomorrow. The problem is, I cant put the truck in neutral. It is an auto. The battery is good, but I cant shift it to neutral. I have been able to in the past as long as the battery was good. Short of dropping the driveshaft, I dont know what else I can do. I need to be able to move the truck because I am not using a mobile cherry picker. Anybody got any ideas?

In my 2004 the key has to be in the on position and the brake drepressed to shift from park. It's a safety thing. However there is a small cover by the P onthe shifter, left side. Pop the cover off and depress the small button. You should be able to shift it to neutral. It is a shifter lock bypass for towing etc without the key.

Thanks Orem, I will check that out in the morning. If not, I guess I will have to drop the drive shaft..

Do what he suggested. (Good posting!) As you long as you have power to the system, you should be able to. It's the same in my wife's '92 auto. I do believe it's the same for any automatic ECT unit.
