My buddies always seem to have something important to do when it comes to helping me out. I needed to get the transmission installed in my 4 runner this weekend and nobody showed up. The trans was in my pickup, so I pulled the truck in the garage and slide the trans onto the bench (same height) Then I set a saw horse under the bench and laid a piece of plywood from the saw horse to my tow hitch. It was enough of an angle to slowly slide the trans down to about two feet off the floor. Then I rolled my transmission jack up and slowly pulled the trans onto the jack. I just picked up this jack from Harbor freight, well worth the money. This thing worked so well I was able to roll it under the 4 runner and install the trans by myself.

Congrats on getting it done, there's a better sense of accomplishment in doing the work yourself anyway.

You must have the same friends that I do. The two times I swapped in another auto they were MIA.

You will always have a dependable friend in Keystone Light, you just go pick them up when you want their company, and then toss them out when you have had enough of them.

I know what you mean, my friends are always busy when I need a hand yet they always want me to take them out wheeling. Good work though

It a good thing I don't own a gun or have any C4 lying around the house. After installing the trans and checking everything several times.... IT DOESN'T WORK!!! When I put it in gear nothin'. I can shift it into low 4 and it will drive and shift gears from 1st through 3rd but that's it. Not too happy right now.

Have the proper fluid in it? And proper level? I know it may sound stupid, but I've known a few people don't things like that, get so exited that they did a project themselves, and 4get the simplest things.....

the only time ya have friends is when you have beer and no work to do, and tool time i feel for you doing all that work your self, i pulled motor and tranny and put it all back by myself and i was really scared that something might not work, god what happened to you really sucks

It's the transfer case. It will drive and shift gears in low 4but won't go into high.
The guy that rebuilt my trans said he never checked the transfer case since he found a problem in the trans. I'm going to try and drop the transfer case pan to see if I can find anything obvious.
