Info needed for AFM swap...filter system?
Hey all.
I finally got almost everything I need to complete my AFM swap. I finished cleaning and polishing the old junkyard AFM I bought yesterday. I got all of the brackets and nuts and bolts to mount it and I have a new 3" aluminum pipe and silicone adaptors all ready to go. But there is one problem...
the old AFM opening on the filter side is 2"x2" and the screws to mount the k&n filter are 1 1/2" on center whereas the new AFM opening is 2"x 2 1/2" and the screws are 2" on center. It now seems that I cannot use the old k&n mounting plate and filter??? I called k&n and they have no idea what to do and there website shows no products for the new AFM.
What has everyone else done about this? Is there a different filter system that will work? Is there a k&n part number that someone knows of? I really want to get this done ASAP so any help is greatly appreciated.

My AFM came off a cresida, and all i had to do is buy a cone filter with a 3" opening and clamp it onto the new AFM, worked out perfect and you can really hear the air being pulled into the filter.

Thanks for the input folks. I'll have to check out some filter options at my local parts stores.
I'm wondering how ya'll mounted the whole AFM/filter assembly though. With my current K&N set up I have two brackets. One mounts to the AFM and the other to the back of the air filter. This holds the assembly in the air so there's airflow all the way around and also so it doesn't lay down against the fender-well or bounce around. (I broke a mount this way because I only had one and all of the bouncing from the truck snapped the mount)
What's your trick for mounting the AFM/filter?
