Is it worth lifting my Toyota Pickup?

I own a 1994 Toyota Pickup Extended cab, V6 3.0L, 5-Speed Manual. I want to put a 4 inch suspension lift on it and size 33 tires. I want to know the pro ad cons of lifting this kind of truck and if its worth it.

I think they look great lifted and on 33s but for myself I dont want a lifted truck just because I dont like climbing into one. What are your personal reasons for wanting to lift it other then to clear larger tires? To clear obstacles maybe or just a daily driver?

Pros:
Ground clearence
Can run bigger tires
Looks badass

Cons:
More body roll/chance to roll over while cornering aggressively
More wear on suspension/steering parts
Fuel economy goes down (With bigger tires, and no regearing)
And as Terry mentioned, you will have to climb, or hop into your truck.

Also as Terry mentioned, depending on what you use the truck for, a lift may not be needed.

Welcome to YT.

This is a question you need to research the answer for yourself. Along with type of lift that will best serve your purpose if you decide to do so.

Are you looking for something pretty to take your honey booboo to the mall in. Or do you wheel regularly and trailer queen your rig to the trails? I'm guess your not in the later category.

What set up do you have already?
Are you regeared?
How much do you plan to spend?

Lifting my 1994 Toyota Pickup

The reason I want my Toyota Pickup lifted is for the looks. I don't want to use it to go off road. I mostly drive my Toyota everyday to school. Mostly I would drive on the road.

It's also nice being able to see over the roof of the car in front of you.

Now I drive my Toyota to and from school, and once in a while to the store. Im not really interested in going off-road. I want to know if my Toyota Pickup worth lifting 4 inches. Also the pros and cons of my situation of lifting my truck.

If it's strictly for looks, and to fit 33" tires a body lift may be the cheapest/easiest route to go.

3" buddy lift and 4:88 gears will probably cost less than susp lift and suit your needs.

Body lifts look good at the $100'ish price tag but can be a PITA to install and deal with getting the shifter bent correctly, forgetting to extend the gas filler next etc.
I think ball joint spacers and an add a leaf can get you a reasonable, functional lift that can be easier to install.

This link has links to lift FAQ's and what tires fit with what lift kit etc..

I want to lift my 1994 Toyota Pickup

I own a 1994 Toyota Pickup V6, 3.0L, 5-Speed manual, and I would like to put a 4 inch suspension lift on it. I really want to know what brand of lift kit is recommended(like skyjacker, tuff or rough country? Brands like that) and I use the truck for everyday driving. I really want to know what kind of lift kit will not damage parts to much, maintains factory-like driving. Also I would like to know how inch u-bolts should the kit have.

I was waiting to see what your response was on why you wanted a lift. I did not realize you were creating other threads and just thought you never got back to the orginal thread. It is hard to follow and will keep other members that have great info from responding as well.

Why are you wanting a lift? Several factors go into things once you determine the reason for a lift. Some have been mentioned above. Larger tires eventually means different gears. Most changes from factory have some sort of risk involved or adds stress to some part. This is something that you need to really to put some thought into why you want or need a lift.

I have read about every lift and gear out there and if I was going to do a lift, all the reading in the world might not be the best for me. Luckily I know enough people or have talked to plenty of guys with lifted trucks to actually see what all is involved and pros and cons. I would not want to put out the amount of cash needed and decide I did not like it afterwards.

Get involved in some local truck groups and ask people that you see have a truck and is lifted. I have and will ask strangers and the most they can do is tell me to get lost but usually they like seeing someone that is intrested in their truck and will tell you more then you ever thought was possbile and what they would of done different.

If they cant tell you the name brand of the parts and cost of the parts, they bought the truck that way. Ask someone who can tell you the cost and name brand of the part and that is who you would want to talk to. They will know and they built their own truck.
