idle question
any one know why when it is cold out my truck idles at 2k but when it is hot out like in the 80s my truck will idle at 1k? this problem is driving me nuts!

.... Its not a "problem". Its normal. Its designed to do that so when its cold, it warms up faster. All vehicles idle higher when first started in the cold, some higher than others.

Definitely not. It's EFI.
Have you checked for codes? It sounds like your IAT sensor might be faulty(code 24). That's what enables the engine to adjust to air temperatures differences. Intake Air Temperature Sensor...

Cold idle can vary anywhere between 800 to over 2000 rpms, dependent upon ambient and engine coolant temps.
"SPEC" is with the engine warmed up, meaning the thermostat has circulated coolant to the radiator at least a few times.
Given that, 800 RPM is almost "spec" for a 22re at "normal" operating temp, which would be 190F, give or take.
If it's 80F out, 1000 RPM could be considered normal, and if it's 32F out, 2000 RPM could be considered normal. The colder it is outside, the higher the engine will idle.
The important thing is that it settles down to around 750~800 once the engine is warmed up.
You should be happy it idles higher when it's cold out, and lower when it's warm: so many people complain about idle issues that it's nauseating to try to address them all.
The higher "cold" idle will warm the engine up more quickly than a low cold idle, and should help driveability a bit too.
