Idle problems with 22r

My 1986 22r pickup sometimes will not idle properly. I have searched the other posts and have not been able to find an issue quite like mine. It will idle fine anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes, then all of a sudden, it starts running ragged and acts like it wants to cut off. Eventually, it does cut off. I can rev it up to keep it going but it misses a lot and runs somewhat ragged. When it does cut off, sometimes it will start back up, but most of the time, it will not. When it doesnt, I tried to start it with ether, but it didn't do anything when I tried that. It doesn't run like this all the time, just sparaticly. I have replaced the fuel filter, so I know that's not the issue. Please help!

Check your sight glass on the carb to see if your float is doing alright. Clean carb while its running with your standard carb cleaner or run some seafoam through one of your vacuum lines. I would also look into timing and maybe pull your plugs and check their condition. Might be time for a tune up?

Thats a start!!
