idle issues
Having problems with my idle when I come to a stop after engine is warm. Does not die when cold or sitting still only when I roll to a stop. If I feather the gas when I come to a sto the engine will idle without dying. So here is what I am thinking....the Carb is flooding out when engine is under a load and coming to an idle. I checked the sight glass in front of the carb and the fuel level is just below half of the sight glass. So does anyone know what else I have to check. The idle is also kinda rough when warm. This is an 86 pickup with a 22r motor. Do these carbs have an idle jet and does anyone have a schematic it is an asin carb.

The fuel level is good, check the auxiliary accelerator pump, its common for the diaphragm to get a hole in it and leak fuel into the vacuum lines. Pull the vacuum line off of it and if there is fuel in the vacuum line the diaphragm is bad.

ok guys now the carb is rebuilt and my idle is very rough but as soon as i give it some gas it smoothes right out. my fuel level is right where it supposed to be, my mixture screw is between 3.5 and 4 turns out, my timing is set to 8 BTDC, all vacum lines are connected or capped off. the only thing i havnt checked is the sparkplugs.

Ok new problem. Still having the idle issues but now if I let the truck sit for about six hours it is like I have to reprime the fuel pump. There is very little fuel in the bowl until it starts it is not leaking into the intake or out of the side of the carb anywhere. Is it possible the fuel is going back to the tank? Before I rebuilt the carb I always had that pressure release when I unscrewd the gas cap and now I have nothing. I know this sounds dumb but if you cross the feed and return lines from the tank will it still run? I have replaced some of the vacuum lines and have ordered the one way valve for the choke in hope to cure my idle problem. Do you think I need to possibly order another fuel pump as well?
