Idle Air Control Valve research/ fixes needed

So after cleaning all my part I have found LITTLE info on the IACV

Thanks to toyota4x4907 I now know what it is that I took apart and cleaned....

Yet not much info out there on putting it back together w/ the proper "starting" point as this poster said, I didn't count the # of turns

http://www.toyotafans.net/22re-high-...cold-t3574.htm

In this thread the guy quits and sells/ attempts to sell truck.... not good

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...le-fix-131859/

This is what the FSM is doing for me.... NOTHING, unless I'm not looking in the correct places

http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...35auxiliar.pdf

Just found out Answers.com wants $$ to answer questions..HA, HA, HA

Many seem to do the old R&R, remove and replace.... :cry

http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=243993

ANY help/ more help would be great

Thanks for your time

Yeah man, I think its one of those things people just replace. If you want, I have an extra one lying around. I could disassemble it and count the number of turns or whatever you need.

Counting turns would be a great starting place, thanks......
One guy stated each turn is "about" a 200 rpm change???

I find it hard to believe it is NOT serviceable, someone has GOT TO KNOW.....

Where that ONE guy is:dunno

I do know the 22re version is a replace item only. i have no expeiriance with the 3.0 version.

even though it is pricey and sucks to have to buy one, it was vary worth it to me. solved a big headache i was dealing with at the time

Well IF you do feel like going through the hassle, thanks

The image on the right

http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...35auxiliar.pdf

The piston is held in w/ a cap... how far down is that cap.

If the slots for removing it are 12 and 6, How many threads are showing or how many twists are required to put it to the same spot...

Thanks again.

I sure hope a piece w/ as many large pieces and as easy to work on is NOT an R & R piece!!!
Are you sure it is and R & R ? or are you guessing?
thanks

Right I know which part on the TB, I mean which part on the AAV/IACV. I really have nothing else to do today as I missed my off-road run because of my rig . I'm just going to go for a drive considering I just got her back together and running right

Congrats on the rig.... the getting it running part, not it's failing you today

today was mostly spend branding calves, then on to more motor research, the pistons are in and the thing is coming together, yet I have this AAV thing stuck in my head

INSIDE the AAV is a threaded cap w/ two slots and a hole that the piston top is visible.

That little cap that holds the piston and spring in place, how far down/ how many turns does it go in

Thanks again.

Was it the thing inside the access plate on the back?

it took 10 turns from where it was at, plus or minus a few mms

Yes, if one were to remove the AAV then remove the access pot cover?? they would see the top of the pioston and the cap that keeps it there.

10 turns sounds about right thanks for the time.

I didnt even have to remove the AAv from the TB, it was on the back of it. If it were installed on the motor it would be facing the firewall.

Ya you are right... I was thinking of it in my hand not on the motor...

Thanks for the count at any rate, one more thing I hope to be correct to minimize corrective tuning after the install.

What was the problem w/ the rig for racing?

Aye. Head gasket decided to bust all the way on Wednesday before work so I spent the last 5 days fixing her, including today. Next weekend theres the real on/off-road March of Dimes rally race so I will be going to that. Just, today, the off-road club I recently joined-ish was doing a pre-run of that trail to mark it and clear it the rest of the way. I havent been on a run with them yet because my rig kept being down

Anyways, Hows the AAV ?

Today was branding and then community potluck day, most my time was spent grabbing calves, then pinning the little guys down

The motor is in the shop on a table awaiting my UNDIVIDED attention, Painted it yesterday between other stuff, I'm hoping that I can get started on it 7-8 or so tomorrow.... tomorrow, just a day a way.

I should be hitting the AAV tomorrow afternoon, lest I hope to...

I'm wishing it would start snowing again, spring brings on the heavy work loads

Thanks for the effort

Haha. Right on!

I like the color on the engine I'm planning on painting the engine that I am building blue with grey trim, my two favorite colors..

But now I'm debating if I really need, or even want, to continue building this engine..... All I have done though is 75% disassembled it.

As it appears you have the skill to tear it down putting it back together is only $$

I spent, just picked up this past fri the 16th, from the machine shop... $879 on machine work, master rebuild from felpro, t chain cover, cam , head job + + +, still not sure if I'll be using the previous rock kit I bought from engine builder, head up only.
Do I go rock or felpro... or I have an OEM on order from the local dealer, my o my what head gasket to use....

I like the blue too Grey would have been cool but most the extras were just painted a lighter blue w/ black.

If you have the time to rebuild find a buddy/ acquaintance who need wheels and help them out w/ your time on that engine... any cute singe moms

perhaps a craigslist 50/50 they by the wheels w/ blown engine you put that one back in???

Well actually, I was thinking of rebuilding this engine for a little more power and drop it in my 4runner.
