I need help sourcing rubber bumper for tailgate striker
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows the part number and/or an internet source for the rubber bumper that is integrated into the tailgate striker plate on a 1995 tailgate? Just to verify for anyone wondering, I have a 1995 Pickup, not a 1995.5 Tacoma.
The exploded parts diagrams that I have been able to find do not identify the rubber piece at all, only the metal striker plate. I went ahead and ordered a striker plate from a dealer hoping it would come with the rubber piece, but it didn't. The tailgate rattle on one side when driving is quite loud due to the missing rubber bumper so I would like to get this fixed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
The attached picture was taken from another thread on this forum from a few years ago, it is not mine.

Could you just cut up a piece of tire and make your own?

I think that might be it! I tried looking the part up on that site already, but I looked it up as a "Pickup" part instead of a "4Runner" part. They only cover 1979 to 1983 in Pickup parts on that site so I moved on and started looking elsewhere. Thanks for helping me out, I knew there had to be a part number for this somewhere.

To find your truck, pick 4runner, then under trim level pick the low-deck pickup. It pays to work the trim level and power train as specific as possible; otherwise, it pulls up all the screens for every permutation.
Spend a little time on that site, and you will be much more sympathetic to the work the counter-man has to go through to find any part! (better yet: find the part on that site, print out the page with the drawing, write your VIN on that page and hand it to the counter-man at the dealership. He may lean over the counter and kiss you!)
