i found

A 93 4runner. V6 auto Black with grey leather interior. Power eveything including sunroof. Alarm,Alpine CD player,Good condition in & out. 200,000 miles. DOES NOT RUN. NEEDS HEADGASKETS. $1600 OBO.

how hard and costly would it be to do new head gaskets?

unless it is for a buddy you know, it's too much. You may replace head gasket to find out Trannyor something else is FUBAR.

For some reason, people see Toyota as gold running or not. Had a guy send me a nasty note about low balling on a Craig's list posting. It was for a Chassis. About stripped that I was interested in a few parts. Some how his feelings got hurt (??WTF??). He sent me a pic of his mid finger and block out my email. What a tough guy, but he did get the last word.

I bought a 22re Runner not running for $1000 But it came W/new parts worth about $700.It ended up labor intensive fast.count on time and $$$$$$,and don't plan on being done too fast.Delays at the machine shop,delays at the part store,weather delays,things you didn't think you needed.So far it's $4000 and counting ,should be like new soon.Don't let me discourage you, just make sure realistic about the cost and time.good luck.
