Hubs?? CV's?? something else??

this problem started a few months ago right after i rebuilt my hubs.

my driverside hub had started to go on the fritz, not locking sometimes, so i took em off rebuilt em, now they work fine.

but the problem is, if i get going, then i let off of the gas (with the truck in gear...like engine braking) a very tight vibration starts, almost like a "hum".

now, my CV shaft boots ARE torn, have been torn for quite some time, since early summer of 2009.

the passenger side CV does click a bit when turning.

and since we just got about 2" of snow i need to be driving my truck, mostly in 4wd......i'm going to keep driving it, because i have went offroading with it doing this since it started, i'm not as hard on it but i still go LOL...i won't be going over 35mph or 40mph though for sure..most likely 25.

if this wasn't the safest vehicle in snow then i wouldn't be driving it, but it is lol

our dodge 1/2ton 4x4 has almost bald tires, so efff that lol (although i might drive it a little bit) and my mom's civic will be driven by my dad because his metro is having a bad case of rod knock..AGAIN.

other than those things..what else could it be?!?!? i don't have any play in my bearings so i ruled those out as well

spindle bearings. There's a post spindle bearing lubricator that tells why and how to lube them. I made mine out of pvc pipe endcap. The grease needs to be warm enough to flow. Solved problem.

I would be looking to the drive shaft not the CV's. My experience has been that when the cv's go bad they are bad and you know it when turning. They also will vibrate under load either way not just when back-driving.

BUT you do have screwed boots so anything is possible.......

well i know the driveshaft is fine, and as soon as i get some more grease in the passenger spindle..i'll be able to rule that out..it was completely dry.....

if that doesnt fix it..THEN i will replace the CV's..it needs to be done anyway before i sell em lol

Problem FIXED!

made my own little tool (just had to buy the PVC cap) didnt even have to cut any threads for anything.

i just got drill bits that were a LITTLE bit smaller than the bolt and the Grease zerk...then just made them make their own threads..and BANGO..no leaky...although it took FOREVER to get enough grease in there for it to start comin out the back.

thanks for all the help guys!!!
