How to remove plastic license plate frame?

Alright.... How do you remove the 'chrome' plastic frame around license plate???

I've tried, but I don't want to break it!
There's rust behind there and I want to take care of it!

lower the gate and bypass the window motor relay.
or work on it from the inside with the gate closed and window up.

Why are you trying to take that surround off? Its one molded piece, you cannot just remove the chrome. You will be left with several odd shaped holes that will need filled, as well as no way to light the plate OR house the backup lights.

Indeed, I didn't read the entire post.

You will have to take off the inner panel, as stated.

You can roll the window up and out of the way by clicking the latch in with a screwdriver while the gate is open to trick the system into thinking the gate is shut.

you can also take off the panel on the back and roll the window up with the gate shut to get to the bolts

There are two nuts at the top and 5 plastic squeeze pins that have to be removed. This can be done with the window rolled up if you are nimble. Just had mine off for paint.

1. With the gate down, latch the two side latches to fool the gate that it is closed.
2. Carefully roll the window up most of the way.
3. Use a 10mm with extesion to remove the nuts that are at the top.
4. Then squeezed the 5 pins (2 on each outer end and one at the bottom center).
5. Unplug the two reverse wires and you're done.
