How much freon?
What is the approx. total weight of freon that the A/C system takes in the R12 type?
I'm going to try Freeze 12, but they say you're supposed to use only 90% of the weight of the R12 that is normally required.

Yeah, I wish I could use Duracool which is a purified propane refridgerant and works supposedly as well as R12 and better than R134, but it is illegal to use here in AZ. I guess it has to do with being flammable, but so is the 19 gallons of gas I'm able to carry around. In an accident, I'd much rather have a few seconds of propane burning off over a liquid fuel fire.
I'm probably over-simplifying the whole thing, but it seems like Duracool would be the way to go if you still have an R12 system that needs to be charged.
