how do you change the outer outer tie rod on 89.

i noticed the other day there was a little play in my front driver side tire. can someone tell me how to replace the outer tie rod on it. i think that will fix it but i have never done it.and i.cant find anyrhing in stone in my hanes book. please help.

Make sure its the tie rod and not the idler arm, although.... if the idler arm is bad, theres a good chance the tie rods are as well...

Its really not rocket surgery man... It comes apart pretty much how it looks. You might want a pickle fork (aka tie rod puller), to free the tie rod end tho.

Which direction was there tire play?

Another thing to check that probably is contributing, is wheel bearings. They're due for service around every 30k, so if its not been done, its time.
