how to align pitman arm/ steering linkage
Well After getting insulted by the girl at the Firestone counter for not properly rebuilding my front end, they told me they couldn't align my 4runner because the Pitman arm was off a little and wanted 95 dollars to do it( I have the lifetime alignment, and this is the third attempt to align it. Finally a tech caught what was going on because I honestly couldnt). I put it on a couple teeth off(which is the only thing I did wrong, which was why I was pretty offended).
They didn't say anything besides that. It is aligned a little now, but in sharp turns the inner tie rod end on the drivers side hits my cross member. How to I go about realigning my steering linkage? I personally thought that was what an alignment tech should do as part of an aligment, but I could be wrong. Center the steering wheel and eye ball it?
Thank you, rant over
After a little bit of googeling, I learned a little about doing this, but should my pitman arm turned at all or be perfectly straight with my gear box?

Mine is straight out with the wheels straight. I recently replaced my Pitman arm and I am almost certain that my new arm had an alignment mark to line up with the one on the gear box shaft.
