horrific sounds

I was driving my 1989 toyota pickup 5spd v6 4x4 about 65mph constant speed when out of no where the transmission poped and there was a constant loud knocking that gets louder and faster when reved. Its way louder then a bad rod knock( its real solid sounding). Now theres no clutch pedal pressure. I replaced the clutch maybe 15-20,000 miles ago (it was my first one) and after i installed it and had everything back together i realized i didnt grease the throwout bearing so it squeeked a little till i push the clutch in a bit. that probably contributed. My question is what would cause this?? The clutch falling apart on me? Any help would greatly be appreciated ive never heard or read of anything like this and i look extremly hard before i post. Im gonna drop the tranny soon but theres no rush cause i still have my 4runner and school just started again but its bugging the crap out of me!!! O yea i can pump the clutch up a lil and after holding it in it still knocks terribly and i cant troubleshoot to long cause its just sounds so bad that i dont want to run it very long. thanks again!!
