Homebrew bumpers
So I'm tired of my flimsy toyota stock bumpers, however I cant afford real ones. I dont need anything heavy duty, but I dont want them to fold up when I stand on them either.
I have no access to a tube bender, however I have a few friends that arent too shabby when it comes to welding.
I think I want to get thick piece of angle iron, and replace the stock bumper with it, keeping the plastic end caps as well.
Anybody done this?
The bumper mounts are pretty sturdy but the bumper itself is like sheet metal.
I was think about doin this for the front and rear, for a nice clean stock look, but a bumper I can actually sit on.
Ideas?

You could do them like mine its pretty stout and cost me nothing but if you just got one 20' piece of steel you would be good to go. I think its like 1 1/8" X 4" tube with a 3/16 wall.
Real basic fab, just a few angled cuts and welds then you weld it on
