Hmmm 33's or 31's????

Hey yall I got a 88 pickup stock, no lifts. Its got 31's on there now and I was thinking about getting some new tires. Does anyone know If I can go up to 33's with no rubbing? Or how can I tell if i will be able to handle 33's? Also is re-gearing necessary or would it be a minor change in power?

this is posted in 100 different places on this website but just to give you an answer if you put 33s you will rub on stock suspension there will be a power decrease but no you dont "HAVE TO" gear it, it will run either way. its mostly your opinion if you like it to be sluggish or if you want it to run like normal. if your not lifting it go with beefy 31s.

try ball joint spacers and AAL's or shackles. i ran 33's on my old truck (86 yota pickup) with stock gearing i had no problem. i would just go with some beefy 32's like bfg muds or somethin tho, you can fit those stock, but you may have to do a little pounding of the pinch weld on the cab

i have 33's but not stock suspension i have 3 inch sus lisft and 2inch body with no regear. And its not bad. i would say at least you need to do a 2inch body lift or ball joint spacers

You may have trouble finding a spare in a pinch if you opt for 33x10.5s (which won't rub).

If you decided to run a skinny 33" tire, like say 33x10.50 or alike. You will have some minor rubbing up front (pinch weld in the back of the fender). You can simply pound this down with a hammer or cut it out.

Your truck will defantly be a little slower then it is now. Hills will be harder to climb. And you will go through clutches faster. I would re-gear eventually, I waited 5 months after I got my tires to re-gear
