High Idle, Then Dies

Ok so i have a 90 toy 22re and i cannot for the life of me solve this problem.

Its an auto so when in park or nuetral it idles high. Really high. Reason being when shifted into reverse/drive/ or any gear besides p or n the idles drops EXTREMELY LOW.

to the point where red lights and stop signs i shift into nuetral to keep it from shutting off. Even coasting to a stop it will sometimes shutoff.

It is also running rich.

My tps is adjusted correctly. I have just done plug, cap, rotor button, and wires wires.

Im thinking about changing the 02 next but would like an idea which direction to head instead of throwing parts at it. Would like to find the issue and resolve it.

Where would you start? Need anymore info?

I'd start by checking for vacuum leaks. Hoses on the intake manifold, intake boot, etc. Spray little bits of starter fluid on areas you want to check, if the idle goes up you've found your leak.

adjust timing, idle, timing, idle...
with the transmission in drive.

engine AND transmission must be at operating temps too.

Engine and trans. Were in operating temps, but if i adjust idle while in drive when i shift to park or nuetral the engine reva really high.

It runs really really rich no matter what i do.

Undeneath the Throttle Body, there is a spring with a bulb like piece there, is it possibly holding the trottle open? Try to see if you can close the throttle closed/ slower at the linkage and see it if slows the idle down. Just wondering if the Throttle body is closing as far as it should. Try burping the system by raising the front end up and letting it cycle the thermostat a few times and get air out of the system. Have seen that cause idle problems. Try adjusting the valves for good measure.

Dashpot was the name I was trying to think of. Have seen the Auxillary Air Valve cause problems.

Aux air valve and dashpot, ill give those a look as soon as i get home, is there any way to check these 2 parts out to ensure they are working properly?

What do yall think about the 02 sensor? Running extremely rich and rough makes me think to change it
