Hesitation in 2nd and 3rd new engine
I have a new fresh engine with minor performance mods (cam and bored out) and new clutch. I put the intake back on myself. Before hand I cleaned the throttle body and intake, I also tested the temp sending unit to ECU, the thermo, and the TPS. I'm using the same untested spark plugs, injectors, and the same cat and O2 sensor. The engine RPM and timing are set properly.
Accelerating in 1st is great, snappy and responsive, once in 2nd when flooring, acceleration drops and the rpm stays the same for about a second or two, then it responds and does a great job ramping up. Same thing happens in 3rd, but not as significant.
Tire size is a hair over stock diameter (235 as opposed to 225). The mechanic thinks tire size is the cause. I sort of doubt it.
The previous engine burned a lot of oil due to head gasket and ring faliure, do you think the cat is clogged and could lots of burned oil cause the cat to fail early in it's life?
Or does this sound like a simple injector issue? I'm thinking of sending them off for a cleaning and testing. pretty cheap.
Thanks

I did test it, but I did have some oddness in the thin feeler gauge tests. Maybe I should test it again. I'm just looking for a real obvious cause but maybe that's it.
I thought about disconnecting EGR, and then O2, and sequentially going from sensor to sensor seeing if I could isolate.
Do you think codes could be read that would pin point the issue?
Thanks

BTW - I have a light surge in warm idle, coolant is full. This is a sympton on the excellent write-up at 4crawler. Hesitation is one also. Hmmm I'm going to test the TPS and make sure my darn multi meter is working.
