Herculinered the back of my 4Runner
Well, I just put down the first layer of Herculiner in my 4Runner and I am very pleased at how good it turned out.
The back of the 4Runner after I stripped the carpet out
The notorious tar boards
After the air chisel action
Testing the tar removal products
After letting the products set
The end result
The WD40 penetrated the best, while Oops was the worst because it dried up too fast.
Now, on to the Herculiner
I started with the edges and worked toward the center. The kit included everything needed to apply the liner but I also needed a surface prep/cleaner, a paint pan and stirrer.
Halfway done
First coat completed. Will lay a second and see how I like it

Ride report: Honestly, I heard no difference in noise driving it with the windows up and sunroof closed. If anything, it was probably a touch quieter as I heard my leaky exhaust less.
Also, I'd like to note that I kept one of my Craftsmen toolboxes in the back while I drove it around and took corners semi fast to see if it would slide, it maybe moved an 1/8 of an inch. Highly recommended.

Are you guys all chipping the tar boards out first? I'm considering leaving them in and just going over them with the Hurculiner. Mine seem to be pretty well attached, and I haven't found any rust on the truck yet, so I would think that there wouldn't be any under the tar. Thoughts?
