I decided to do a bed liner in my yota yesterday so I decided to put a thread up on it to see what people think!
So here it is with the pendaliner in it


I was kind of scared to take it out to see what was underneith it.


So after I took it out there wasnt much rust just a little on the surface. A few dents but not bad.

So I took it to town and sprayed it out at the car wash and bough the herculiner kit at Bi-Mart for $90 with one gallon of liner a roller and bruch and a scotch brite pad.

After getting it all dry and roughing up the paint a little bit with the scotch brite pad I cleaned the bed with acetone to get any oils off it.

Then I masked off the bed with masking tape and started on the bed liner.



This is how it came out! Couldnt be happier! I put one more coat on after this one and it went on easy.

The one thing I wish I did defferently is wearing gloves. this stuff does not come off your hands!

Looks good. Just to warn you herculiner does not like direct sunlight. Herculiner is known to fade. I have seen some that look like crap after 2 years and some look good. Best of luck man.

If you want it to continue looking good, top coat it with this stuff: It goes on way easier than the herculiner, just clean up the herculiner and brush this stuff on. It worked great in the tub of my CJ5.

Awesome Stuff.

I just did my floors in my 85 4runner, and going to eventually do the entire floor and bottom half of the truck.

Very very easy to mix, spray, and clean up.

Just my experience, but I had a Jeep TJ in Southern Arizona for five years that I Herculined the entire inside of the tub on the day after I bought it. The black didn't fade or chip.

I did one application and let it sit for a week, and then did a second complete application.

Solid the day I sold it, and it saw nothing but the sun. If only Jeep built the engines and front ends so well...

Looks good!! About to start mine. Did you think using the scotch brite pad was enough? I thought about using a palm sander.

take the hurculiner crap back and spend some more money to get better stuff. this was one of the worse things ive done to my truck. ive done a total of 5 layers and it still flakes and chips off with hardly any effort. on top of that, it faded to a nasty gray color and it loves to soak up oil of any kind that gets on it.

i also did it on the interior of a k5 blazer and wasn't too happy with the results of 3 coats and proper prep with wire cup brush down to bare metal and acetone prep. If doing it again, I would spend a little more and either have it professionally sprayed (like LineX or similar) or would go with another DIY product that gets sprayed on. I've read positive things about AL's Liner and U-Pol Raptor Liner (which is tintable).
