Help! Wiring Issue!

My 22re is running crazy Rich. I am suspecting a coolant temp problem but I cant seem to figure out the temp sensor wiring to verify this. The sensor is brand new. The truck has been a wiring night mare since I bought it. At my coolant temp sensor I have 12volts at the Brown/black wire and 5volts at the green wire. I believe the coolant temp runs on a 5 volt reference which would mean the brown and black is shorted to power. Please correct me if I am wrong. I began unplugging sensors to see when I loose the 12v at the brown/black and unplugging the AFM does just that. I have also tried another AFM and yielded the same results. Any Ideas. Can someone tell me what I should be getting for readings at the temp sensor. Thanks!

Really? Thousands of yota owners on here and no one has any idea what the voltages should be.

I average about 8 mpg driving to work. The truck plumes black smoke. I am currently chasing wires. I think my brown/black wire should be ground.

POS!!! I am about to have a Toyota yard sale!
I work on cars everyday and I have never in my life come across such a wiring headache. And I cant for the life of me understand why there is no information on CTS voltages anywhere on the internet. I have tried everything from totally re-wiring the CTS to swapping out the ECU. My two major concerns are that my truck will not run on another ECU and I cant seem to get the check engine light on no matter what I do! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! So damn frusterated right now. Any hints, tips, tricks, ideas, anything?

i may be inexperienced. . . . . . .but as much fuel as it sounds like your dumping i dont think its the cts. but for a 93 it says coolant temperature at 176 deg. F, voltage from sensor to ecu (terminals THW and E2) should be 0.2V-1.0V

I pulled the cold start injector out, blocked the hole, and started the truck, at about 40 degrees the injector did nothing. I am getting fuel at the injector but its not firing which doesnt matter right now. If I plug the CTS and cold start injector in the way they should be the truck idles great but can be reved up. It just stalls when you hit the throttle. If I plug the CTS plug into the cold start switch the truck idles rough, runs rich, but can be driven at about 8mpg. When the CTS connector is plugged into the cold start switch I have a reading of 3volts on both wires. With the CTS unplugged I get a reading of 12v at one and 5v at the other. My understanding is that the CTS runs on a 5v circut and a ground. Please tell me if im wrong.

So, I take it that you have a toyota pickup with a 22re... what year is it? Auto or manual? 2wd or 4? I'll see if I can find some info once I know what to look for.

A little more history on the truck. I bought it not running, found a bad connection at the AFM, got it to run but not good, I have replaced, fuel pump, fuel filter, AFM, ECU, spark plugs, realys, removed complete interior and repaired multiple broken wires,. The wiring in this truck was broken and cracked every where.

you didn't buy the truck from some kid in visalia for like 200 dollars did you? sounds like my first yota. 88, paid 175 and drove it home DRAGGING wires. 22re running on nothing but a v6 afm. pretty awesome but i was never able to get it legal. it was enough to inspire me to buy my 92 which barely runs cause the computer thinks my perfect ignition system isn't proper. funny how that works. . . . . .

LOL! No I live in maine where yotas are becoming extinct due to rusted out frames. I bought this one because the frame was 100% perfect and all the body panels are intact and solid. Little did I know it was going to be a wiring disaster.
