Help / pointers diagnosing temperature gauge problem?
Hi,
I recently swapped the alternator in my '90 Hilux Surf (diesel, 2LT 2.4). Trying to mod it to use the voltage regulator from my original alt on a second alternator, I blew both 80A fuses (engine heater/alternator) * ...
Once it all worked again ... almost ... the temperature gauge is reading at zero. I figured this was the sender, and swapped it, but this didn't change the readout on the dash gauge.
I've checked all the other fuses too, they seem fine.
Any suggestions welcome and much appreciated!
Cheers

* I blew them both because I swapped them around so I could continue testing

- What voltages should I see going into the sender?
- How can I debug the gauge to isolate and repair the problem?
Any suggestions welcome and much appreciated!
