help please with Hard shifting auto tranny, 22re

When I am driving with moderate throttle and let off the gas, the tranny will frequently slam out of gear. It can't be good for anything so I am hoping you ave suggestions.

It started after replacing my timing chain, which involved removing the head, or basically stripping everything down to the block and reassembling everything.
I am wondering if the transmission cable from the throttle body could cause this.

Thanks

New timing chain with Engine builders front end rebuild kit. Tokico RT trekmaster shocks <-like them.
I found the turtle in my yard, after mowing over it and it was fine! Old toyota trucks are like turtles: slow, steady and durable.

the cable has a little swadge that sits inside the rubber boot around the cable and at fully open throttle you are suppose to only see .5 to 1 mm of the swadge exposed from the boot. i don't have my manual right now but it might be in the 93 fsm posted on here. either way i really don't think that that is it unless you really moved the adjusting nuts a whole lot. mine was a good bit off after my rebuild and it really didn't make any noticeable difference.

here it is. i guess it could possibly be the problem. good luck. check for diagnostic codes and do a manual shift test.

The throttle cable adjustment is important. The other end of it goes inside the valve body on the tranny. If it's out of adjustment, you can have harsh shifting, or strong jerking from park to drive, and since it controls pressure inside the tranny, it can cause it to drop in and out of gear.
