In my area a combo switch runs about $40 from the boneyard. I would suggest getting one from there and before putting it in, clean the contacts on the switch assembly to head off the problem of bright lights not working. The contacts just need a quick cleaning. I have it listed on my 88 Runner build thread on the first page. You will need to rent a wheel puller from a parts store.

or bring a friend.loosen steering wheel nut a few turns, one guy pulls up on wheel as hard as possible and the other guy wacks the nut with a hammer.should pop up easily.

You'd hit the steering column with a hammer just to save $20? http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...uller/_/N-2652 (Actually, to save nothing; I think Autozone loans these out for free. )

Please, easy on the hammering. The steering column is designed to "telescope" in a collision, and you don't want to get that mis-set.

You need a rheostat (Toyota part name) no need to pull steering wheel, but if you can find a used one it will save you money. They're spendy new from dealer.

Not sure what year your pickup is but judging by your avatar I think this is the part. It's $111 from tituswilltoyota.com, but it's used on a few models I'd check the classifieds here for a part out. Part 84119‑04010 (RHEOSTAT, LIGHT CONTROL) was found on the following models:

Date range Model Frames/Options Found in diagram
02/1992-12/1994 TOYOTA 4RUNNER TRUCK RN101,110,VZN100,110 84-01: SWITCH & RELAY
01/1995-08/2004 TOYOTA TACOMA RZN161,171,VZN160,170 84-01: SWITCH & RELAY 09/1991-12/1994 TOYOTA 4RUNNER TRUCK RN80,90 84-01: SWITCH & RELAY

yes hit the column with a hammer done it a thousand times at work never damaged a one. we are talking removing a steering wheel and nothing to do with the crush zone on the shaft.this would be useful to some on that does not have access to a puller.

My rule of thumb is to pay not more than half of the new price for used parts. So, if the part is $111, I'd offer him $20-25 and not go over $50.
